Why are Brooklyn Cupcake’s “Chillin’”?

11 Jun

You would do everything possible to protect yourself and your family. Brooklyn Cupcake wants to do the same for our extended family… our fans!

It is estimated that as many as 9,000 deaths and up to million illnesses yearly are directly linked to food-borne pathogens (bacteria and other microorganisms that cause illness). And, many of these illnesses are caused by foods that are left out at room temperature. The reason chilling food is so important is that cold temperature keep harmful bacteria from growing.

Once our cupcakes have cooled, we immediately place them in clear, plastic disposable cupcake containers with hinged covers to store and protect them from environmental contamination. Within two hours, once they have been stuffed and/or frosted, we immediately return them into their storage containers and into our refrigerators which are set to maintain a temperature of 40 °F or below.

We hope you keep this in mind when you visit any food service establishment. The Health Department issues letter grades to help consumers make informed choices about where to eat out. Brooklyn Cupcake prides itself in maintaining the highest food safety standards. Hence, our Grade A Scoring… :)
